Barnes Junior School

Proud to learn, proud to achieve

Admissions

Choosing a new school for your child is one of the most important decisions you have to make as a parent and we hope that Barnes Junior School will be your first choice. We are a 3-form entry school with a pupil admission number of 360 (90 children per year group).

We are committed to meeting the needs of all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We would ask parents to discuss the identified needs with the school prior to starting so that appropriate intervention and support can be planned and implemented. Advice from the Local Authority (LA) or other agencies may be requested to ensure that the school can meet any needs appropriately.

Sunderland City Council maintained schools are not tied to catchment areas and therefore all parents have a right to apply for a school place with us, regardless of where they live within the city.

If you would like to join our growing school community, please arrange a meeting with our Head Teacher by contacting the school office on 0191 5535968 or via email on office@barnesjunior.co.uk. You will also be required, if applicable, to have a transfer form signed by your child's current school.
